Girls' Holidays Are Good For Your Health, Says Psychologist
Long Winter nights getting you down? Craving that return to Ibiza with your best gals, a gorgeous tan and a Mojito in one hand? Well... It turns out even science is on your side.
Nothing beats a much needed rant to your best gal over a glass of vino when you need to wind down, and now, psychologist Dr Chopnik has revealed that getting away with the squad is actually good for your health.
According to his research (which was published in 'Personal Relationships'), healthy friendships have a positive impact on our health, more so than any other type of relationship - with friendships putting less pressure on people, resulting in happiness. What better excuse for bonding time, huh?
Speaking of his research, Chopnik says:
"[friendships] are a way to derive all the benefits of being in a relationship with someone without the enormity of it," - resulting in far less pressure on the relationship, and therefore having a bigger impact on health and happiness. I'll drink to that.
Wondering where the Mojitos come into this?
Dr Chopnik has also said following his research that spending time with your friends in person has a much greater value than just chatting on the phone or voice noting each other back and forth on Whatsapp (yep i'm guilty of that one too...) - saying:
"You can sit down, look them in the eye, have a true back-and-forth, and read each other's body language."
"They can see you and your facial expressions.
"You're emotionally responding to things, and you can pick up on their emotions.
"You don't always get that through a phone call."
So if you haven't been spending much time with your pals lately, now might be a good time to suggest that vino and getting booking a gals trip! Like you needed an excuse...
